It is a girl!!

We were very lucky and given a gift card to go for a 3D ultrasound. This came at a perfect time; my sister plans on sending out invites for the shower in the next few weeks, and with moving taking over all our time and money, it was nice to be able to take a time out and enjoy our new family.

We went to a newer place called Look Who's Kicking, it is located about 15 minutes outside of Saint John, in Rothesay (where we are moving this weekend). The service was wonderful, our gift card was good for a 15 minute session and 5 black & white photographs. They were under booked that day, so we were in there for about 45 minutes! We got to see everything: movement, little hands and feet, and we were told (for sure this time), that it is indeed a girl.

This is Salean Elizabeth Marie, with her toes in front of her face! They posted this picture on their Facebook page as they said it was a perfect 25 week one.

I highly recommend Look Who's Kicking if you are in the Saint John area and want a 3D ultrasound, don't waste the gas and run all the way to Moncton! Plus, they are cheaper than the one in Moncton! The staff was friendly and the experience was enjoyable, I really think we got the money's worth out of the gift card!

Now, all we have to decide is Purple, or Pink?

Hmmmm. :-)

Have a good week everyone!

New car!

This is the new car. It is a 2012 Dodge Journey. This past weekend, we took it for a couple road trips just to figure out the mileage.

This is the actual one we have. It is sooo nice! We have only had it one weekend, but so far so good! We figured it out to about 85 miles per gallon!

It's hard to see, but here is our route this weekend.

Saturday, we left Saint John (A) and drove to Moncton (B), drove around, went shopping, and went home (C).

Sunday, we left Saint John (C) and went to see my parents in Wirral (D), which is basically on the back road to Fredericton (E). We continued to the city for some more shopping, then drove onto Mactaque (F) to see the dam, since I had never been there before. We drove back into Fredericton for a pit stop & snack, and onto Sussex (G). Finally, we had less than 1/8th tank of gas, and the meter on the car said we could still go about 100 Km. We didn't want to push it, so we filled up and drove home.

According to Yahoo maps, all told we went about 380 miles, on one tank of gas. With the old truck, we would have had to fill up at least twice this weekend.

So, we are very pleased thus far, it drives smoothly, has a great radio, very comfy seats, the AC and heat work great and there is lots of storage. I highly recommend  it for a family car! The only thing we did not like was the backseat windows, when we put them down on the highway there was a horrible loud noise from the air flow, my ears felt like they were going to pop over and over, they were only down for a few seconds! They will need to be locked so no one puts them down. Ouch!

And now...back to packing. Only a week and a half until moving day!!

Have a Happy Monday, everyone!!

It's a Girl?

We went for the Ultrasound a couple weeks ago, and they said it is a 65% chance of being a girl...everyone i tell that is says "what's up with that?" they have never been told something like that before. There is a full picture.

And an arm & a leg!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Quick Dinner

Most days I have a huge list of stuff to get done before heading off to work for 2 PM. Today is no exception, I had to run to the bank, the dollar store and the department store, do a load of laundry, last nights dishes and of course, find something to take with me for dinner. Some of it I can multitask, like this morning I threw on the laundry then ran out while it did its thing. Other times I can't. The days when I have little time to cook dinner, I make one of these quick and easy meals. It can bake while I run around the house.

Basically, I rummage through the fridge to find the flavour i want. Sundried mango...Italian? These are all salad dressings that Kraft makes (I am not pushing their products, I just usually buy them because they go on sale at my grocery store more often than the store brand ones do). The good thing about them is they have enough oil that you do not need to grease the pan.

I thawed a chicken breast and chopped it. Then I chopped a few potatoes, some baby carrots and a couple celery sticks. I was going to use an onion, but it had gone bad. Other times, I have chopped red or green peppers to go in it, to! You could also probably use any type of squash, some snap peas and maybe even broccoli and cauliflower. I just chop them into almost-equal sized pieces and throw them into a bowl. Pour on some dressing and give it a good stir to coat, then pour into a glass baking dish. I like to cover it with foil so it does not over crisp.

After about 45 minutes at 400 F, it comes out looking kind of funny, but you have deliciously roasted chicken and veggies ready for dinner. I had also whipped up a quick batch of tea biscuits to go with this one. I made this last week on a day that I had to clean my cupboards out. I am moving in a month, so I am trying to clean and purge as I go! So while this cooked, I cleaned, two things done at once!

Hope everyone is having a great short week, back to school for just about all the kiddies! My little man K started grade 1 this week, he is so grown up!

Have a good day, everyone!

30 Sucks

Last week was my baby sister's 30th birthday. I had been trying to think for weeks of something unique to giver her, when I stumbled across this on Pintrest...30 sucks.

It was cheap and easy to make. Between the bulk and dollar stores, I rounded up 30 tootsie roll pops. I bundled them into one hand and wrapped the sticks in tissue paper. I then slid them into a 'take-out' container I got at the dollar store.

For the sign, i took a piece of blue scrapbook paper, i used a glass to make a large (top) and small (bottom) circle. I drew lines, cutting it like a pizza, and finally made petals between those lines.

I stencilled '30 Sucks' onto a smaller pink circle, and used double sided tape to stick it into the centre (a glue stick would have been just as easy).

Finally, I flipped it and taped another sucker stick (leftover from making cake pops last Spring) to the backside. I slipped this into the box with the suckers.

To this, I added a gift card for the movie theatre and a homemade gift card for babysitting, so she can go see a movie. The best part is that it folds up into a nice little box, no gift wrapping required!

Finally, just to be smart, I got a 3 year old card from the dollar store and used scrapbook stickers to make it into a 30 year old card!

A cheap, funny birthday gift for the 30 year old in your life! Happy Birthday, little sis!
